Timisoara (Romanian: Timişoara, hun. Temesvár, nem. Temeschburg / Temesvar) is a city in Romania. It is the largest city in Banat, located on the river Bega and the county seat of Tamis. With 412,753 inhabitants Timisoara is the fourth largest city in Romania. Timisoara is known as the cultural, educational and commercial center of western Romania. Timisoara is the largest cultural and historical center of the Serbs in Romania. Most of Serbian people gathered just in Timisoara, where normally there are many cultural institutions that are closer. In Timisoara is the seat of the Diocese of the Timisoara Serbian Orthodox Church and the Union of Serbs in Romania, and also here is issued and Serbian weekly "Our word". The city is also called "Little Vienna", because the city for a long time been under the Habsburgs and the center of its architecture and ambience reminiscent of the old part of Vienna.
